These projects would cost millions, all funded by taxpayers
These projects are driven by our Hays County Commissioners
FM150/RR12 Roundabout
The roundabout would eliminate the approved Howard Ranch Town Square
The Town Square construction has started, so buildings would need condemned and removed at additional taxpayer cost
Relocating utilities would be an additional unplanned taxpayer cost
Funds for the Darden Hill Rd. roundabout (designated in the 2016 bond) have been diverted to the RM150/RR12 roundabout (which was not in the bond)
The existing FM150/RR12 signal is safe, averaging only 1.5 accidents per year
The roundabout is the entry point for the FM150 Extension
FM150 Extension
The 2016 bond does not address the FM150 extension and it is not funded
FM150 character study does not address the FM150 extension
No traffic study has been done to validate that the FM150 extension will improve Dripping Springs traffic
No alternative routes, widening of existing roadways, or addressing US290 have been seriously considered as an alternative to a new roadway
K Friese & Associates are completing a “20% study”, a $750K expense to taxpayers
No topography or environmental study are done; will be more cost in the next phase
The proposed route crosses Onion Creek multiple times
The proposed route will destroy many properties & ranches
The FM150 Extension will enable development of more homes and more traffic
Questions
How much would these projects cost?
How do the roundabout or the FM150 extension help Dripping Springs traffic?
Shouldn’t US290 be improved first, since that’s the primary traffic problem?
Shouldn’t the county prioritize more dangerous intersections like RR12/Sports Park Road (2.8 accidents per year) or RR/12 US290 (14.5 accidents per year)?
How does a 4 lane highway funnel into roundabout and then a 2 lane road?
Would the roundabout work with a Caliterra traffic signal? Won’t that back up?
